Neymar and Messi shine, but Sanchez, Aguero and Falcao steal the show

  • BUENOS AIRES, July 14, 2011 (AFP) - The star Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Neymar (Brazil), showed their status only at the end of the opening phase of the Copa America, but the gaucho Sergio Aguero, the Chilean Alexis Sanchez and Colombian Radamel Falcao Garcia stooled the show in the stage.
Messi was lost and alone in the first two games without being able to emulate the game he does in FC Barcelona until the coach Sergio Batista put together a partnership with Fernando Gago, Angel Di Maria and 'Kun' Aguero, and then the best player on the planet showed his magic against Costa Rica (3-0), and gave the pass to the quarterfinals.
Neymar came to Argentina to sign as superstar, but even flickered in the first two games, the young 19 year old was charged to the shoulder and scored two goals in the vital last match against Ecuador (4-2).
Kun Agüero won by scoring goals and good matches played brought him to the first team, becoming the ‘albiceleste’ scorer in the first phase, with three goals, and an ideal partner for Messi in the area.
The now quoted Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez, nicknamed the Wonder Boy, confirmed his iconic status to the thousands of followers of the ‘Roja’ in the Copa America. With his speed and ability, Sanchez, 22, finished among the highlights of the first stage of the cup.
Another one that was overshadowed was the Colombian superstar Falcao Garcia, who remained in the initial round of the Copa America which exhibited the same good play as last season in the Portuguese Porto, champion of the Europe League. Falcao Garcia is a fundamental part of the organized structure armed by the coach Hernan Dario Gomez.
