Muslera, the hero and best LG player, closed the goal and classified Uruguay

  •

  • Fernando Muslera had a spectacular performance in the evening. Uruguayan goalkeeper made miraculous saves, and saved the penalty that gave the classification to the Celeste. With 31.5% of the votes of internet users and journalists from CONMEBOL, the shirt number 1 was named best LG player of the match, in the Uruguay win in the penalty shoot-out over the host Argentina.

There were four interventions that left the Argentine crowd disbelief. Highlight for two consecutive defenses at 44 minutes of the second half. When Tevez hit the ball in a free kick, the ball deflected on the way and Muslera, in a basis of reflection, saved the shot. Following the play, Higuain grabbed the rebound under the goal and shot strongly, but the Uruguayan goalkeeper was on top of the play and reached out to, once again, to prevent the victory of the Argentine team.

A tightly game between two great teams that ended tied at 1-1 and went to its final chapter in penalty shoot-out. The kickers were very quiet and converting their shots with precision. Until Fernando Muslera decided to reappear and become not just the best of the game, but sort of a hero of Uruguay. In another confrontation with Carlos Tevez, the 11 shirt got the ball, ran and hit hard, but the Uruguayan goalkeeper jumped in and saved! Brilliant!

Now, Uruguay grows in the competition and will face Peru in the semifinals of 2011 Copa America, as the favorite. The match will be on July 19, Tuesday, at 21.45 (local, 00.45 GMT), in La Plata.
